Whether operating within the highly organized Developments, or doing Infill Housing or major Renovations, the contracting field is wide open to all comers in Manitoba. A relative newbie can take out a $600,000 building permit without any formal licensing or training. This is a plus and a minus, of course, as the field is often littered with amateurs creating problems for home-owners and developers alike.
Notwithstanding the negatives, home building and renovating is one of the few highly profitable enterprises available to the aspiring entrepreneur, without restrictions. For the established business owners in our industry, there are many tools and training opportunities to take your business to the next level. But for the start-ups…not so much.
We noticed the need for a coaching-style service to fill this gap.
Every new business venture begins with an idea, then develops through conversations, and eventually gets off the ground (or crashes) with a measure of risk and reward. We step in at the conversation level, and we walk side-by-side with our clients as they do their initial launch. Later we are always there to touch base as the new venture develops into a serious business.
Coaching is the new methodology that is prevalent throughout business culture. Generations of experience and knowledge are made available through coaches who guide and encourage, without taking the reins (and part of the equity). Todays coaches have paved the way for the new entrepreneur, (through hard experience in some cases), and they are whole-heartedly dedicated to strengthening the next generation in their field.
In today’s sometimes chaotic and always changing environment, having someone at your side who has “been there before” is invaluable.
Within our specific field (construction/homebuilding/renovations) we recognize the need for the next generation to step into our shoes and we want to be there for them all the way. This is our sole reason for developing this site, to make it a place to incubate ideas and launch new enterprises across Manitoba and beyond.
